The Faculty of Medicine was founded in 2001. The Faculty awards its graduates a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery after completing a minimum of 262 credit hours. These include 31 credit hours of university requirements, 10 credit hours of basic scientific requirements, 86 credit hours of basic medical science requirements,
and 135 credit hours of medical science requirements. Our curricula include both an integrated systems approach and a traditional system in the following clinical years. Our staff members represent highly distinguished and prominent academicians, dedicated to the teaching process, research and health care.

The primary mission of the Faculty of Medicine is to support the healthcare infrastructure in the Southern region of the Kingdom and national contribution in formation of highly competitive physicians at the national and international level to afford the different postgraduate training programs. We will also expand our cooperation with local regional and international organizations in all fields of Medicine. These projects will consolidate our position as a modern and updated University in the region and in the world.
The Faculty of Medicine at Mu'tah University will start some of its new programs. One such program is e-learning, which will soon facilitate student-teacher interaction and deepen the understanding of certain subjects. We have also initiated the Plastination project which is a pioneer project in our country. This project will be an integral part in the teaching process of Anatomy laboratories. In the coming years, new post-graduate programs will be launched and an inter-departmental research unit will be established. We have established new lecture rooms. We have also started the construction of a new building for the basic medical sciences in the campus of the University to cover our needs and ambitions in the coming decades. We are looking forward to establishing a hospital of Mu'tah University that will be an integral part of the university and the community as a whole.
